BOAT STORAGE
Boats less than 26 feet long can be stored in a yard facing the street if the trailor wheels are on a hard paved surface. For information, call 305-365-5-8908.

BICYCLE REGISTRATION
The Village of Key Biscayne Police Department offers bicycle registration to help recover lost or stolen bikes. For information, call 305-365-5555.

BUILDING PERMITS
Blank Permit Application Form are at the Department of Building, Zoning and Planning (Room 250, Village Hall) or can be downloaded from www.villageofkeybiscayne.gov . Construction without proper permits could result in substantial penalties. For more information, call 305-365-8908.

BULK WASTE PICK-UP
Households get one pick-up of bulk waste on a specific day during the second full week of the month. This includes yard waste which cannot be bagged, white goods and furniture. Items cannot be more than six feet long and must be placed away from trees or other things that might block pick up. Improper placement (more than 24 hrs before the scheduled pickup date) will result in fines to the homeowner. Special collections above and beyong what is provided is available at an additional fee. COMMUNITY CENTER

CPR CLASSES
Village residents may sign up for a CPR and/or First Aid Class with certified instructors from the Key Biscayne Fire Rescue Department. For information, call 305-365- 8989.

FISHING LICENSE/ MASHTA BRIDGE
A license issued by the Village is required for fishing off the Mashta Island Bridge. The license may be purchased from the Code Enforcement/Occupational License Specialist in the Building, Zoning and Planning Department (Room 250, Village Hall).

GOLF CARTS
Golf Carts must be registered with the Village of Key Biscayne Police Department and have a valid permit affixed to the cart.Golf carts are not allowed on the sidewalks, bike paths or beaches. Golf carts are not allowed on Crandon Boulevard except when traveling from one intersection to the next immediate intersection. Call 305-365-5555 for more information.

HOME SAFETY INSPECTIONS
Annual residential home safety inspections for single-family homes and duplexes by Fire-Rescue personnel are available by appointment. Call 305-365-8989 for more information.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
Household hazardous waste includes leftover paint, pool chemicals, used motor oil, gasoline, fertilizers, pesticides and automobile fluids. For information on Miami-Dade County drop-off centers, call 305-372-6789, evenings 305-372-6955. For oil based paints, mineral spirits, pool chemicals, solvents and home chemicals, mercury and products containing mercury call the Home Chemical Collection Center at 305-597-1768.

HOUSE NUMBERS
House numbers are required on the front of all homes. Easily readable house numbers allow emergency service to locate your home quickly.

The Village web site – www.keybiscayne.fl.gov - provides up-to-date information about Village events and meetings. The webiste also provides residents with convenient ways to access local government services.

MOSQUITO CONTROL
To report a mosquito infestations, request surveillance efforts or spraying, or obtain information contact Mosquito Control Division, Miami-Dade County Public Works Department, 305-592-1186.

RECYCLABLES
Recycling pick up is once a week on the first day of a resident’s regular pick-up day. For more information, including requests for recycling bags call, 305-471-4444. Items acceptable for recycling include glass, metal cans, newspapers and plastic bottles and containers. Items not acceptable for recycling are foil, plastic wrap, Styrofoam, light bulbs, china, glasware, pie pans, food trays and cans.

SENIOR TRANSPORT
The Village of Key Biscayne sponsors a free transportation service for senior residents to all local points within the island (including Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park and restaurants, Crandon Park Golf Course and the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Nature Center in Crandon Park). SOLID WASTE
Two picks ups of household garbage are made each week on Monday and Thursday (south of West McIntyre Street) and Tuesday and Friday (north of West McIntyre Street). Pick up is from the side or back yard, depending on where trash cans are kept. Garbage cans may also be left outside of a fence or gate on collection days. Acceptable garbage includes food scraps and package materials, and household materials such as hygiene products, grocery bags and magazines not suitable for recycling.

SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT
A Special Event Permit is required for any event that takes place on public or private property. Permits, which must be approved by the Village Manager, must be submitted not less than 20 days in advance of the event.

TELEVISION
Key Biscayne government television on Comcast Channel 16, broadcasts Council meetings and presents original programming. The Key Biscayne Chamber of Commerce has a regular program highlighting Village businesses.

YARD WASTE PICK-UP
One pick up of yard waste is made every week, always on the second day of regular garbage pick up. Yard waste must be placed next to the regular garbage in bags or bundles. Weight must be less than 50 pounds. Tree limbs or branches should not exceed four inches in diameter. Not acceptable for weekly pick-up is debris from tree removal,land clearing, land development, house demolition and home improvement.
