League Against Cancer / Liga Contra el Cancer was founded in Miami 1975 as a community-based, not-for-profit organization providing free medical care to needy Cancer patients. More than 350 Florida physicians, who are board-certified in their specialties, volunteer their services to the League Against Cancer. League Against Cancer is the last resort for cancer victims who have no financial resources or health insurance. Expenses incurred by the League Against Cancer for Cancer treatments can amount as much as $50,000 per patient. Patients receive the appropriate medical treatments at no cost to them. Since 1975, more than 50,000 low-income, uninsured men, women and children have received world-class medical treatment, screenings and support from the League Against Cancer, which represents a very significant economic saving to the State of Florida.

Neptune Memorial Reef are the builders of the largest man-made reef in North America for the sole pupose of providing fish habitat, re-establishing coral growth, and providing the largest cremation services in the world. The Neptune Reef is offered exclusively by the Neptune Society. Set to launch November 2007, the Neptune Reef will cover 16 acres of of ocean floor and offer room for more than 125,000 remains by creating a “living city” that will welcome marine life to thrive and converge. Neptune Memorial Reef is located 3.25 miles offshore the Miami Coast. The Reef is a design and engineering wonder that will attract divers, ecologists and tourists.

Thursday, November 8, 2007. Mark the date for the 5th Annual Jay Bon Salle Memorial Golf Tournament to be held at the Crandon Park Golf Course in Key Biscayne, Florida with a dinner reception and auction immediately following the tournament at The Links Restaurant at the Crandon golf course. Since 2003, the Jay Bon Salle Foundation has raised over $475,000 to help fight heart disease with much of the proceeds benefiting the University of Miami Cardiovascular Center.
Approximately one million Americans have been diagnosed with congenital heart disease and thousands of babies are born each year with one of the defects associated with this crippling disease.

The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) will begin work around the Bear Cut bridge in Key Biscayne beginning October 2007. The project is expected to take a total of six months, with the assembly phase taking approximately four to six weeks. WASD will post updates on its website, www.miamidade.gov/wasd/. The first phase of installation of the sewer main involves its assembly. Assembly will take place alongside Rickenbacker Causeway, just southeast of the Bear Cut bridge. Once assembled, the entire pipeline will be installed by directional drilling under Bear Cut.
Work hours for this project will be weekdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
