October 26 – November 30, 2006 - Dive into the Past: The University of Miami will be presenting its Inaugural Exhibit of Fossils and Artifacts from Little Salt Spring. Little Salt Spring is a 240-foot deep, hourglass-shaped sinkhole, with water conditions that allow for amazing preservation of bones and other artifacts buried within its sediments. The exhibit provides a tantalizing look at the region dating back to when the first Floridians arrived over 12,000 years ago.
The opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006, from 5-8 pm. The lecture will be provided by Dr. John Gifford at 7 p.m.
Exhibit hours: Mon-Thurs 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m., Sat 1-5 p.m., Sun 1-9 p.m.
Exhibits are free and open to the public; ample parking available on campus.

Thursday, October 26 at 2:30pm: Key Biscayne Community Church Day School will host an incredible Halloween fitness class for children between the ages of three to six years old. Vacation in your own backyard: The Key Biscayne Heritage Trail
Did you know you could learn the history of our Island Paradise by going on a fun bike ride offered by our county park system? This 3-4 hour ride is 12 miles roundtrip and starts at the Crandon Visitors and Nature Center. You can venture into nature as well as learn about the history of Key Biscayne.
The Key Biscayne Heritage Trail is a tour from Bear Cut Waterway to the Cape Florida Lighthouse. It follows along paths of prehistoric Indians, early planters and settlers. It ranges from easy to moderate cycling levels with the cost of $25 per person, or $20 if you provide your own bike. The next scheduled tours will be held November 10 and 24 from 9:30am-1pm.

We are looking for a few good men, women or children to assist us with the event. In return for your assistance, we will be happy to donate to your charity and/or give out community service hours along with giving you a chance to advertise your charity PLUS be a part of one of Key Biscayne’s oldest traditions.
