Beginning September Poolates™ and Master Spas™ team up to promote benefits of Pilates and aquatics. Boo Pfeiffer, the internationally acclaimed Pilates instructor, personal trainer and public health expert who innovated the Poolates™ method, is teaming with Master Spas™ to bring Poolates™ to home pools worldwide.  Pfeiffer will demonstrate her trademarked Poolates™ method in Master Spas™’ DVDs and other materials.  “This is a great way to bring the benefits of Poolates™ to the backyard pools that otherwise sit empty,” says Pfeiffer: “So many people have pools but don’t realize that the pool is the equipment that will help them to improve posture, increase energy, reduce pain, enhance performance and longevity , and develop unparalleled strength and flexibility.”

In addition to working with Master Spas™ to bring Poolates™ home, Pfeiffer has launched a prestigious multi-level Poolates™ certification program, training studio and fitness instructors worldwide in the Pilates program that uses the pool as apparatus.  “It’s not an easy program; no rubber-stamp,” says Pfeiffer.  Instructors need to demonstrate a thorough understanding of Pilates and kinesiology in written and practical exams.  Clients who participate in Poolates™ programs can feel secure that their instructor has met rigorous standards before working with them.”  Pfeiffer has presented at renowned programs such as the Body*Mind*Spirit Expo and Pilates on Tour, and has been featured in all the leading fitness industry journals, as well as written about by such publications as Fit Magazine, Nexos, Spa, Self,  the Miami Herald and the New York Times.

Wednesday, September 28, 2005: Look out for the newest edition of Key Biscayne Magazine, the Entertainment Edition!

Some things stay with you for the power they’ve had over you: watching the pirouettes of the nymph-like ballerinas of the Bolshoi Ballet in Swan Lake, seeing Damien Hirst’s sliced cow suspended in formaldehyde at the Saatchi Gallery, being transported to another time and place by Puccini’s Madame Butterfly at the Florida Grand Opera or staying at home with a bunch of friends to watch the DVD of Winged Migration (it’s true). Entertainment may be different for you or me, but offers diversion and holds our attention for a while. When it’s done well, it may stay with us a little longer.

In this, our entertainment issue, we offer ideas about what to do in Miami in the world of art and culture. We’ve also featured several Key Biscayner’s who are in the spotlight. With journalist Jorge Ramos on our front cover, we realize there’s a fine line between hard news and an anchorman’s personality that leaps across the television screen to capture the viewer’s attention night after night.

So whether it’s going to the theater, watching a movie on the big screen or going along to one of the flourishing gallery nights across the bridge, see what’s out there and explore. Each of us needs to recharge our own creativity by appreciating the arts or by simply losing ourselves in pure self-indulgent entertainment. This one’s a wrap for me.
