Wednesday May 4 -- 7 to 10 pm -- Pesqueira Gallery cordially invites you to the opening reception of Hugo Consuegra, “A Painter of Feelings.” Consuegra (1929 Havana, Cuba - 2003 New York, U.S.A.) has left a deep mark in the history of twentieth century Cuban art. His fierce and daring art, along with the art of a few others, changed the course of the artistic endeavor of a whole epoch and pushed Cuban art into a new direction: abstractionism. He has been identified as one of the most solid members of the group “Los Once” (“The Eleven”), who introduced Cuban art to the international trends in abstraction during the decade of the 1950’s.
