Saturday, April 16th 11:00am – 3:00pm: Family Day at the Key Biscayne Branch Library: Our local library is holding a “Family Day” at their facility where there will be activities for the kids such as arts and crafts, face painting and talented storywriters! Come hear live music played by Louis Archambeau, talk to local authors, or take a tour of the library’s garden. April 19th – May 17th Every Tuesday from 7:00pm – 8:30pm: Appreciation of Jazz. The Institute for retired professionals of the University of Miami has arrived at the Key Biscayne Community Center. This course will be taught by Joe Donato and offers an entertaining overview of the hundred-year old history of Jazz, the first indigenous musical art form. From its historical roots in Southern blues and gospel to modern day Jazz, students will gain a keen understanding of this exciting and important musical influence. The course will be held in the Multi-purpose room and the fee is $80 for members and $100 for non-members. Wednesday, April 27th 9:30am – 12:00pm: Social Security Comes to the Village! Join us in the Key Biscayne Room at the Community Center where a bilingual representative from the Social Security Administration will assist you with all your Social Security and Medicare issues. Robert McBride took the top prize for MAST staff, Carlos Garcia for adults, Abie Raymond for students and Jason Schmidt for youth. The MAST Class of 2006 won the class trophy and bragging rights for the year.
